I saw a post from DK for a new spy mechanic, and I liked what he wrote, but it missed some things, like: what would it do? So I want to expand a bit on it. I did promise to write a forum on a spy mechanic anyway, so here it is.
First thing: a tab where to control your active spy netwroks. If we're going to have a spy mechanic, we need a place where to control them like we control a war. So I say we add a new tab in "Wars & Missions", where if we have a spy network in a nation, it'll show up in a Spy tab where we'd be able to do a few things. For example: get the nations buildings, get the nations military, get the nations infra level (if it won't be publicly available info), sabotages, etc. Now, of course, these actions can't be done for free, so I'm introducing SAP's: Spy Action Points. You get up to 12 possible stacked up SAP's to use in the spy netwroks. We'd get 1 SAP every 2 hours, and each acion would cost 6 SAPs (could change that depending on the action). Each Spy Network would last 4 days (can change for balance). We can have up to 5 Spy Networks. We can also withdraw our spies at any time we want before it expires.
Second thing: how we get spies in the nation. Easy. We can have a button on any nations page called "Build Spy Network". When we click it, we get a pop-up that shows us how many spies we want to send in, and then we have a confirmation button. When we do send them (and succeed), the spies won't be in our nation and we won't be able to use them somewhere else until we cancel the network or it expires.
Third thing: a building. We could have a National Agency in the capital's wonders. We'd gain 1 spy per level and maybe some defense bonuses in defending from enemy spy attacks.
That's pretty much it, all of these factors can of course change if it would need some re-balancing. Oh, and if you haven't seen DK's post, here it is: nationsatrisk.proboards.com/thread/135/spy-mechanic-idea
